The dogs make
the sheep

And the sheep make the dogs. A Border Collie and a Pembroke Corgi train in the big lower field most days.

Two dogs

Two very different ways of moving sheep.

The Border Collie works wide and quiet, with the eye and the outrun the breed is known for. The Corgi works close, low and loud, a driving dog from the old Welsh cattle tradition. Between them the sheep learn to respect a dog at any distance, which is what makes a starter group worth having.

Sessions are short, several days a week, with a camera on the rail so every run can be reviewed. First trial entry this fall.

Bring your dog

Sheep time, by appointment.

If you have a young dog that needs to see stock, or an experienced dog that needs honest sheep, the lower field is available by appointment. The dog-broke ewes are forgiving of a green dog and will still test a seasoned one.

  • Round pen and a big lower field, both with sound fencing.
  • Dog-broke Border Leicesters that flock and settle.
  • Starter groups of three to six ewes available to take home.
